How it works
Close the lid.The desktop follows.
DUO Butterfly responds to the actual angle of your MacBook’s lid and transforms the desktop as the lid moves.

Styles

Silk
A soft bend and a gradual fade. The subtlest of the three.
Adjust the bend, blur and darkness independently in the app.
Menu bar app
Set it upyour way.
Choose a style, fine-tune the effect and set the angle at which it turns off.
⌘⌥B turns DUO Butterfly on or off instantly.
Privacy
Your screenstays onyour Mac.
Everything is processed locally, in memory, with Metal. Screen frames are never saved or uploaded.
- Download the ZIP file from the latest GitHub release, unzip it and drag DUO Butterfly to your Applications folder.
- The app isn’t notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks the first launch. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
- Allow screen recording when macOS asks. DUO Butterfly uses this permission only to create the visual effect on the built-in display. It doesn’t record video or audio.
